What do I need to bring?
1. Look at the weather forecast.
2. Only at camp for 2 ½ days so don’t pack the kitchen sink.
3. Think about what is happening over the camp – outside all the
time, so nothing too smart. Needs to be hardwearing, practical and
comfortable. Need at least one change of everything in case something
gets wet or very dirty, but remember cubs will be wearing clothes to camp so,
for example, they should only need one change of trousers. Main questions
to ask are:
‘Will I be warm
enough?’
‘What if it rains?’
‘Are my shoes
comfortable and waterproof?’
4. Come to camp wearing:
a: cub top and scarf
b: suitable
trousers/bottom half wear.
c: Solid pair of
trainers that they can comfortably do activities in and do long hike
e: Waterproof coat.
5. They will need:
a: sufficient underwear
and socks
b: spare pair of
trousers and maybe shorts
c: 2 or 3 tops
d: spare pair of
shoes/trainers if weather looking bad then wellies.
e: fleece/warm top
f: pyjamas or sleeping
wear. If it looks cold a wooly hat is a good idea for sleeping in
e: Simple wash kit(soap,
flannel, toothpaste/brush) and small towel. Let’s be honest it is
only a couple of nights and the cubs will do the bare minimum of washing.
So don’t send them with a bath size towel.
6. Sleeping bag and good idea to get a liner. You want to avoid
washing sleeping bags as they lose their pile. Can’t stress the
importance of getting a decent sleeping bag – 3 or 4 season. It can last
a long time. If you have a thin sleeping bag then a blanket is a good
idea. A pillow is useful
7. Sleeping mat.
8. Plastic bag for dirty washing.
9. Luxury item. Cuddly toy etc.
10. Torch
11. Money - £10 per
cub. This is only for spending in tuck shop. We will run a central camp
bank.
12. Medication. Please
place medication that your child needs in a sealed and clearly labelled bag
with any instructions and hand to Ellie Lewis on arrival.
13. Any electronic equipment
is at own risk. We would prefer if cubs did not bring phones etc.
